News of the Supreme Council

The Soviet troops withdrawal from Afghanistan was completed on February 15, 1989. The Supreme Council Chairman Alexander Korshunov addressed the Pridnestrovians on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Glory of Internationalist Soldiers.

Improving road safety, document processing convenience, the right to judicial protection – these and other issues were reflected in the legislations that the deputies of the Committee on Legislation, Protection of Citizens' Rights and Freedoms worked on and that were adopted as laws. Deputies of the Advisory Assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies under the PMR Supreme Council chairman monitor the situation in the republic in the context of the energy crisis and emergency in the economy. The request of the first deputies about the measures made was responded to the PMR Ministry of Economic Development.

The Supreme Council Chairman Alexander Korshunov took part in an extended meeting of the Military Collegium of the PMR Ministry of Defense.

The Law "On the Passport of a Citizen of the PMR" was adopted by the PMR Supreme Council on February 13, 2002.

A round table on the training of professional personnel for the economy of Pridnestrovie was held at the PMR Ministry of Education. The PMR Supreme Council Deputies Sergey Cheban and Oleg Vasilaty took part in the discussion.

Stanislav Kasap was unanimously elected Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the PMR, Viktor Taranov and Elena Gorodetskaya were elected Deputy Chairmen. The first meeting of the new composition of the PMR CEC was held on February 12.

Volunteers are again on the front lines in the context of the state of emergency in the economy. The state is trying to encourage those who strive to do good without asking for anything in return. The decision to postpone the date of the next plenary session was made by members of the parliamentary Presidium at today's meeting.
