Memorial service was held after the funeral procession for those killed during the Great Patriotic War. It was served by Archbishop Sawa of Tiraspol and Dubossary at the chapel of St. George the Victorious. A reburial ceremony was held then at the monument to the Unknown Soldier, recently installed at the Glory Memorial. All those present laid flowers at the monument in memory of the Soviet feat during the Great Patriotic War.
Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council Galina Antyufeeva took part in the funeral ceremony. The vice-speaker noted that she feels a sense of pride that in Pridnestrovie "nobody is forgotten and nothing is forgotten."
History is important for Pridnestrovie, noted Supreme Council deputy Viktor Guzun. Pridnestrovians, according to the parliamentarian, pass it on to their children so that the memory of the feat is preserved. Viktor Guzun came to the ceremony of reburial of the remains of the unknown soldier together with his youngest son.
The memorial event in Tiraspol was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Ozerov. The diplomat called the reburial of the remains of the unknown deceased Soviet soldier an important and sacred act of memory on the eve of the 9th of May.
Memorial and solemn events will be held on the 9th of May in all cities of Pridnestrovie in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Pridnestrovians will again be able after a five-year break to take part in the large-scale Immortal Regiment march with photographs of their relatives who died for peace in their native land.
