The remains of an unknown soldier were reburied at the Glory Memorial in Tiraspol. The ceremony was preceded by a funeral procession. The Red Army hero, who like thousands of soldiers and officers liberated the Soviet people from fascism and Nazism during the Great Patriotic War, was seen off on his final journey solemnly and with military honors. An armored personnel carrier with a coffin on an artillery gun carriage drove along Suvorov Square to the memorial complex. The funeral procession was attended by the top officials of the state, deputies of the Supreme Council, public figures, military personnel, activists of the Heirs of Victory movement, cadets, Suvorov military college pupils, cadets, and young army members. The movement of the column was accompanied by mourning music and melodies of songs from the war years performed by the Orchestra of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

The unknown soldier remains of were found on the site of one of the houses in the village of Parkany, Slobodzeya district. The excavations were carried out by activists of the Heirs of Victory youth patriotic movement. The activists began searching for the burial sites of the Red Army soldiers on the instructions of President Vadim Krasnoselsky.

The President expressed gratitude to the search teams, thanks to whose work it became possible to pay tribute to the defender of the Fatherland who died 81 years ago. The Heirs of Victory movement has been conducting search operations since December last year. The first places where the activists of the Heirs of Victory movement went were the villages of Mereneshty and Kitskany. It was in their vicinity that the Iasi-Kishinev operation was being prepared. In 1944, it played a decisive role in the liberation of the territory of Soviet Moldova from the German-Romanian occupiers.

Residents of Parkany told activists that in the summer of 1944, a Red Army scout named Peter appeared in the village. Presumably, he was collecting data on the location of enemy forces before the start of the Iasi-Kishinev operation on the right bank of the Dniester. In the battle, The Red Army soldier was seriously wounded, but was able to swim across the river and reach Parkany, and soon the soldier died. His body was discovered in 1944 by a village resident near his house, on the plot of land of which the soldier was subsequently buried.

The Heirs of Victory continue search operations. The remains were exhumed in the capital's "Kirovsky" microdistrict yesterday. There is also a burial place of a Red Army soldier in Bendery according to available information. Activists plan to continue studying the territory of the village of Mereneshty and the Kitskany forest.
