News of the Supreme Council

The Supreme Council adopted the presidential initiative – pensions and social benefits increased in the republic from February 1. The Parliament together with the Ministry of Finance is looking for financial sources to increase salaries for teachers and doctors. Work continues in parliamentary committees and in constituencies. "The Councils of the People" parliamentary newspaper regular issue is about payments for utilities, the replacement of street lamps with LEDs and other new legislations, as well as the “My Great Countrymen” project and events in the republic.

The leadership and deputies of the Supreme Council took part in the extended meeting of the Board of the PMR Prosecutor's Office, in the course of which the control and supervisory body reported on its work in 2023.

Parliamentarians supported in two readings their colleagues’ law-in-draft on amending the law “On the Status of Military Personnel”. The legislation gives the right to engage in paid sports activities, if this does not interfere with the performance of military service duties.

The Supreme Council adopted in the second final reading the changes proposed by the PMR President to the Code of Administrative Offenses. The law-in-draft introduces special liability for stopping or parking vehicles in places where prohibiting road signs or markings are installed.

Work on finding funds to increase wages in the education and health care systems continues in the Supreme Council. The President set such tasks to the Parliament and the Government in his Message to public and administrative authorities.

The PMR Supreme Council adopted in two readings today the President’s legislations on increasing pensions and benefits in the republic by 10% from February 1, 2024.

The PMR Supreme Council adopted in the first reading the law-in-draft of the PMR President on amending the law “On Road Safety”. The initiative eliminates the test required to replace a driver's license.

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky held a regular meeting dedicated to increasing the level of wages for healthcare workers. The dialogue was attended by Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, head of the Committee on Economic Policy Viktor Guzun and head of the Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare Sergei Cheban.

Working meeting of the PMR Supreme Council Presidium was held online on January 30. The Parliament Speaker Alexander Korshunov and the heads of parliamentary Committees and the Commission clarified the agenda of the plenary meeting on January 31 and determined the date of the next plenary meeting of the Supreme Council.
