Opportunity to participate in competitions during military service

Sportsmen during military service will be able to continue to participate in international competitions and receive salaries and travel allowances for this. Such innovations were prescribed by deputies of the Supreme Council in the law “On the Status of Military Personnel”. Military sportsmen could not engage in paid sports activities before the amendments to the law. The law-in-draft was initiated by parliamentarians of the Committee on Legislation, Protection of Rights and Freedoms of Citizens Galina Antyufeyeva, Grigory Dyachenko and Oleg Petrik. The reason was an appeal from the leadership of the Olympic Reserve School.

The authors noted in the explanation to the law-in-draft that many sportsmen did not return to elite sports after completing military service previously, due to restrictions on engaging in sports activities. Their sports activities will be paid for at present. The Supreme Council adopted amendments to the law “On the status of military personnel” in two readings at once. The new norms will come into force the next day after signing by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
