The procedure for replacing a driver's license is simplified

If the 10-year validity period of a driver's license has expired, it will be possible to replace it without exams, regardless of how much time has passed since the expiration date. A medical examination will remain mandatory. According to the law at present you can replace your license without an exam only within six months. The President Vadim Krasnoselsky proposed amending the law “On Road Safety” and establishing a simplified procedure for replacing a driver’s license. Deputies of the Supreme Council adopted the law-in-draft in the first reading.

Driving with an expired license is prohibited, therefore a must contact the territorial Driver Licensing Office at his place of residence after its expiration. It is important to undergo a medical examination. Driver’s license will be changed upon the driver’s request and his application, the official representative for the presidential law-in-draft noted at the plenary meeting.

The relevant legislative committee will work on clarifying amendments by the second reading.
