The draft of a new law for the republic “On perpetuation of the memory of those who died while defending the Fatherland” is ready for adoption in the second and final reading. The amendments were reviewed today in the course of meeting of the relevant parliamentary committee. As the head Igor Buga noted, the remarks are mainly technical in nature, conceptually the law-in-draft does not make changes.
Law-in-draft on amendments and additions to the laws “On local government bodies, local self-government and state administration” and law-in-draft “On burial and funeral business” are in one package with the basic document. The authors of all three legislative initiatives were parliamentarians Igor Buga, Andrei Safonov and Ruslan Gareev.
The legislations regulate the search for the dead and missing in the course of hostilities on the territory of the republic at different times, and gives the concept of "those who died defending the Fatherland". According to the basic draft of the law, a single state information system “Book of Memory” will appear in the republic, in which personal data and other information about the fallen defenders of the Fatherland will be stored. As the head of the committee Igor Buga emphasized, these legislations will give impetus to the search work, which, among other things, is carried out by the Republican volunteer movement “Heirs of the Victories”. The leader of the movement is the President of the Republic, Vadim Krasnoselsky since last year.
