The Government proposed to make amendments to the law “On folk arts and crafts”. The law-in-draft was connsidered by deputies of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture. It is proposed to give the State Service for Culture the authority to adopt normative legal acts regulating the activities of masters of folk arts and crafts. They will be given a special document – a certificate confirming the master’s status.
The head of the State Service for Culture Maria Kyrmyz presented the law-in-draft to the Committee deputies. The head of the department explained that the draft law was developed on behalf of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to eliminate existing gaps in the law “On folk arts and crafts”. The introduction of additions will allow the development of by-laws to provide state support to masters of folk arts and crafts.
The Supreme Council adopted laws regulating the work of craftsmen recently. It is stipulated that if they have a special document, craftsmen will be able to sell their products at exhibitions, fairs and festive events on a city or republican scale. They will be able to leave their works for sale to various souvenir shops. Craftsmen will be exempt from paying income tax, having a certificate from the State Service for Culture.
Maria Kyrmyz noted that there are about 80 craftsmen in the republic totally who are engaged in artistic crafts. Not all of them will be able to obtain a certificate of master’s status. We are talking only about masters who preserve the ancestral traditions of the peoples living in Pridnestrovie.
The law-in-draft on introducing amendments to the law “On Folk Arts and Crafts” will be considered at one of the plenary meetings of the Supreme Council in the first reading.
