To find a middle ground

Today, students are called for a draft after the first course of study in high school. As practice shows, not all students after a year of military service return in high school audience. Among those students who did not return to alma mater often are future teachers and doctors, as is well known, it is now demanded experts. Members of the profile parliamentary committee consider it necessary to give the right to deferment from military service, but only for those who first gets a higher professional education to eliminate repetition of available statistics in the future.

Parliamentarians are considering calling students into the army after the third or fourth year of study in high school. The position of the deputies supported the Pridnestrovian State University leadership.

The Higher Education Institution representative drew attention to the need to consider the economic aspects of the problem. Under current legislation, those who have served in the military have the right to education from the state budget. Chances are good that we need additional budget places for this category of students.

Representatives of relevant ministries also complained about the outflow of young men of military age due to training in high schools of Russia, Moldova, Ukraine and foreign countries. Last year, the outflow was 80%, it is 960 people out of 1200.

The relevant committee members plan to return at the next meeting to consider amendments to the law "On universal military duty and military service".

The Committee also considered other specialized issues, in particular, it was a recognition of the rule of law framework in the republic of the Universal Postal Convention dated 11 October 2012. Parliamentarians profile committee also proposed to supplement the law "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations" the establishment of a citizen's right to replace military service with alternative civilian service in cases where military service contradicts his convictions or religious belief.
