Today's meeting of the deputies at the Supreme Council of Public Associations Committee, Sport, Information and Youth Policy dedicated to the consideration of the President's veto on the package adopted by the legislative body of laws regulating the activities of mass media, including the government. It is a joint establishment of the three branches of government (legislative, executive, judicial) and president of media, including audio-visual, manner of appointment and removal from office (by the public prosecutor) their editors, activities of press services of government agencies and departments, broadcasting on state radio and television programs produced by them and others.As noted at the meeting by Deputies, the Supreme Council at the legislative level, set a transparent and democratic mechanism for the joint foundation of state media, designed to fully comply with the provisions of the law "On the light activity of state authorities".Deputies focused attention on the fact that the decisive role in overseeing the strict observance of the norms of the law "On the illumination of public authorities" by chief editors of state-run media belongs to the prosecuting authorities, performing as the overall supervision of the implementation of existing legislation. Prosecutor's office in case of violation of it is entitled to initiate the issue of dismissal of the chief editor from office.Following the discussion, despite certain objections of representatives of the State Service for the media and the Ministry of Justice, members of the parliamentary committee on public associations, sports, information and youth policy recommended colleagues deputies to overcome the President's veto on the adopted by the Supreme Council the laws regulating the activities of mass media, including the state.
