About the Law "On Mass Media" again

The president sent to the Supreme Council a new draft law "On Mass Media" in the regime of legislative necessity. It was considered at today's meeting of the parliamentary committee on public associations, sports, information and youth policy. As it was repeatedly pointed out during the discussion, Parliamentarians after reading the document had a lot of questions to its author, and they asked his authorized representative, heading the public service media.

Questions concerned such norms and concepts as "foreign agent, and organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent" (they are absent in Pridnestrovian legal framework); "research volume TV viewing audience" and others.

It was also noted that the submitted version of the law "On Mass Media" will necessitate changes to dozens of laws. As a result, members of the Committee have taken a unanimous decision to recommend the deputies to reject the submitted draft. Arguments in favor of such a decision will be announced by the head of the profile committee during the plenary meeting November 2.
