The Central Election Commission of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic celebrated the 27th anniversary of its founding. The grand meeting on the occasion of the festive date took place in the building of the Central Election Commission. The guests were welcomed by the Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of the PMR, Elena Gorodetskaya. She expressed her gratitude to all those who for over a quarter of a century have been taking and actively participating in the improvement of the electoral system.
The history of the Central Election Commission is inextricably linked with the history of the creation and strengthening of the Pridnestrovian statehood. The citizen's right to elect and be elected is enshrined in the Constitution - the basic law of the country. The memory of the first chairman of the Central Election Commission, Anatoly Molgachev was honored by a minute of silence that solemn day. In the period of the first Pridnestrovian referendums, which actually became the foundation for the creation of a future republic, he had to create from scratch a system of electoral bodies, to form the first lists of Pridnestrovian voters. Since the formation of the CEC, 138 election campaigns have been conducted, 7 popular referendums, presidential elections and deputies of the Supreme Council, elections of the President of the Russian Federation and deputies of the State Duma have been organized jointly with Russian colleagues.
Veterans and the current composition of the CEC on the anniversary of the formation were congratulated by the Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Shcherba and his deputy Galina Antyufeeva.
Elena Gorodetskaya presented the breastplate "For services in the organization of elections" to veterans of election commissions, active employees, representatives of mass media. Galina Antyufeeva, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council, among those was awarded with departmental awards. The head of the CEC noted the highly professional work of the vice-speaker to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens.
