The Statement of the PMR Supreme Council on the threats of escalation of tension and destabilization of the regional security system

The deputies in the course of the plenary session today unanimously supported the statement of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on the threats of escalation of tension and destabilization of the regional security system. The Pridnestrovian parliamentarians in the statement condemn the aggressive actions of Moldova and call on the international participants in the process of the Moldo-Pridnestrovian settlement to assess the actions of the Moldovan side.

 “The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic declares an extremely alarming situation that is developing in the process of the Moldo-Pridnestrovian settlement in connection with the legislative decisions of Moldova that open the way to the violation of the rights and freedoms of Pridnestrovian citizens and carry a direct threat to their personal security.

The amendments to its own criminal legislation, adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on February 2, 2023, containing such politicized concepts as separatism, anti-constitutional entity, self-proclaimed power, conspiracy against Moldova and a number of others, have an obvious anti-Pridnestrovian orientation and provoke a new crisis in the process of settlement.

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic shares the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic that assesses such actions of Moldova as an act of aggression aimed at undermining the negotiation process and a deliberate prologue to mass violations of human rights.

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic recalls that the parties to the conflict managed to maintain a consensus on the common responsibility for maintaining stability and security over the past three decades despite the fundamental differences in political positions.

However, the latest unilateral actions of Moldova not only testify to the refusal of the official Chisinau from this approach, but also open up opportunities for the flow of tension from other conflict zones, that completely contradicts the vital interests of the peoples of both Pridnestrovie and neighboring Moldova.

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic calls on the participants in the process of the Moldo-Pridnestrovian settlement, as well as international organizations to evaluate the actions of the Moldovan side that has taken the path of discrimination against the people of Pridnestrovie for our own political views and beliefs, and to prevent repression against Pridnestrovian citizens.

The deputy corps of the legislature of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, acting in the interests of the Pridnestrovian people, confirms its firm commitment to an equal dialogue and settlement of conflicts by peaceful political means.

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic warns the legislators and the leadership of Moldova against the implementation of repressive measures and declares that the full responsibility for possible escalation of tension and destabilization of the regional security system lies entirely on the Moldovan side,” the statement of the PMR Supreme Council says.

The statement of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic will be sent to the international participants in the negotiation process in the "5 + 2" format, as well as published in print and electronic media.
