The issues of the current situation in the social and economic spheres, as well as measures necessary to minimize the consequences of the energy crisis were discussed in the course of the regular meeting of the Operational Headquarters.
The head of the Operational Headquarters, Chairman of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Rosenberg emphasized that the republic is in very difficult, almost critical conditions. The cessation of natural gas supplies led to the shutdown of most enterprises, with the exception of those producing food products. Priorities in the distribution of energy resources were set taking into account the vital needs of citizens and the state in the current circumstances.
There is a significant reduction in operations within the framework of foreign economic activity. Imports have decreased today by 43%, which in value terms amounts to 7 million dollars. A significant decrease occurred in all commodity groups. Export operations also show a decline. Volumes have decreased by 60%, which amounts to 3.3 million dollars. A number of enterprises have introduced a night work schedule in the conditions of energy shortage. There are ZAO Elektromash, Intercentrlux, Softshoes and others among them. A number of other enterprises will switch to night shift work in the near future.
The Government Chairman Alexander Rosenberg appealed to businesses to show social responsibility and care for workforces that are currently idle, and to make maximum use of available opportunities to provide them with work.
The Operational Headquarters meeting participants also discussed the safety of using electrical appliances and smokeless gas water heaters, as well as the correct operation of stoves. According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vitaly Neagu, the employees of the Main Directorate of Emergency Situations are conducting unscheduled raids. Rescuers visited 5.7 thousand citizens, inspected about 4 thousand heating devices, and also held more than 6 thousand preventive talks.
Particular attention was paid to the issue of accidents in the energy sector. The specialists have recorded a decrease in the number of emergency shutdowns on the republic's power grids since January 7. For example, 173 accidents were registered on Christmas, and 91 last Sunday. A smaller number of teams are involved in eliminating accidents.
As Deputy Minister of Economic Development Evgeny Grossul noted, most of the emergency situations on the power grids in the republic are related to the replacement of fuses, circuit breakers, repair of transformers and main wires in apartment buildings. Outages for the population were reduced to three hours per day the day before, thanks to the launch of the Tirotex-Energo and Tiraspoltransgaz Pridnestrovie cogeneration power plants, as well as favorable weather conditions. However, the previous five-hour schedule of outages has returned from today.
No emergency situations were recorded on high-voltage networks in the past 24 hours. There are no accidents in the gas supply system either. A decrease in emergency situations is also recorded in the heat supply system. In order to reduce the time period of power outages for the population, the head of the Operational Headquarters Alexander Rosenberg noted that enterprises need to strictly control electricity consumption and save it as much as possible.
