The head of the legislative body of the republic Alexander Shcherba, as well as Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council, head of the parliamentary commission for foreign policy and international relations Galina Antyufeeva became honored guests of the expanded reporting board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its holding was timed to coincide with the quarter-century anniversary of the foreign policy department. The President of PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky, members of the Government, representatives of the Russian Embassy, guests from South Ossetia and Abkhazia, friendly to us, took part in the meeting.
July 1, 1992 is considered the birthday of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic. Then, a quarter of a century ago, by decree of the first president of the republic Igor Smirnov, a republican bureau for external relations was established, headed by Yuri Grosul. The activities of the new structure were overseen by the then State Secretary Valery Litskay. The Bureau was transformed into management (at the same time the negotiation process began, its first documents appeared) in 1994, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2000.
As Valery Litskay noted in the documentary film about the establishment of the republic's foreign affairs department, "our first task was to become a negotiating party". One of the first and perhaps the most important achievement of the early Pridnestrovian diplomacy was the signing of the cease-fire agreement July 21, 1992 and the Moscow memorandum May 8, 1997. Later, the Supreme Council adopted the basic law "On the Diplomatic Service" regulating the activity of diplomats. By the way, the parliamentarians of the first wave were also diplomats - people's diplomats.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev told about the main milestones of the development of Pridnestrovian diplomatic service. He pointed to the increased intensity of international contacts of Pridnestrovie in recent times. It is evidenced by the figures: in the first half of the year the President held 40 meetings with official representatives of foreign countries, there were 470 international meetings and visits at various levels.
Welcoming the jubilee, the head of state Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that the formation of Pridnestrovian statehood is inextricably linked with the activities of the foreign policy department of Pridnestrovie.
The Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba addressed the staff of the Foreign Ministry with congratulations.
