Protection of intellectual property rights

The fourth part will appear in the Civil Code. It contains intellectual property rights. The deputies of the Supreme Council adopted the corresponding law-in-draft in the final reading in the course of the plenary session today.

“These legal relations were regulated by various legal and subordinate regulations. We have fixed specifically in the fourth part, which is intellectual property, the procedure for its protection at the moment. In particular, the rights of creators of computer programs and industrial designs are secured, the procedure for exercising these rights accordingly. The most important thing is that intellectual property and related rights are enshrined,” commented Grigory Dyachenko, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Legislation, Protection of Citizens’ Rights and Freedoms, commenting on the adoption of the law-in-draft.

For example, the rights of the creators of selection achievements, the rights of trademark owners are enshrined. The rules on the registration of intellectual property objects and the validity period of rights to them are prescribed.

Along with the introduction of the new part, the current norms of the Civil Code were also adjusted. After signing by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the adopted laws will come into force on September 1, 2022.
