The traffic militia will be able to use special devices, the so-called breathalyzers to determine the fact of alcohol consumption by the driver. The Supreme Council adopted the corresponding amendments to the legislation in the second final reading. The new regulation will take effect next year. It will be necessary to provide funds for the purchase of such devices in the 2022 budget, the traffic militia do not have them now.

The authors of the initiative were the deputies of the Committee for the Agro-Industrial Complex, Industry and Transport. After the entry into force of the adopted law, the traffic militia will have the right on the spot with the help of a breathalyzer to conduct a survey for the state of alcoholic intoxication. It will be more convenient and faster for the drivers themselves. If a driver does not agree with the result, then inspectors are obliged to send him for a detailed examination to a medical facility.

In case of suspicion not of alcohol, but of narcotic or toxic intoxication of the driver, the traffic militia officer sends him to the healthcare organization for the study of bioassays.

The amendments to the laws "On Road Safety", "On Militia" and the Code of Administrative Offenses adopted by the deputies were sent for signature to the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
