The Ban on Non-Traditional Values Propaganda

09.04.2025

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic adopted in the course of the plenary session in the first reading a package of legislations aimed at banning the propaganda of non-traditional values among adults and children. The initiative was developed by deputies of the parliamentary Committee on Education, Public Associations and the Media.

It is proposed to make amendments to 7 laws at once. For example, it is proposed to expand the list of information prohibited for distribution by including materials promoting non-traditional sexual relations, gender reassignment and refusal to have children in the law "On the protection of children from information harmful to their health and development" and in the law "On information, information technology and protection of information".

Information promoting the listed non-traditional values should not be contained in advertising, films shown in cinemas, or in media materials. For violation of these standards, the deputies propose to provide for administrative liability in the form of a fine for citizens and officials, and for legal entities – in the form of a fine and suspension of activities for up to 90 days. The Supreme Council deputies unanimously supported the initiative of their fellow parliamentarians in the first reading. Work on the legislations will continue in the relevant Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Public Associations, Sports, Information and Youth Policy.
