Pridnestrovian schoolchildren may be prohibited from using gadgets (cell phones, smartphones, tablets and others) during lessons. Exceptions will be cases where there is a threat to the life and health of schoolchildren themselves or employees of educational organizations, as well as other emergency cases. The law-in-draft on amendments and additions to the PMR Law “On Education” was developed by deputies of the parliamentary Committee on Education, Public Associations and the Media Igor Buga, Andrey Safonov and Pavel Shinkaryuk. The authors noted that similar bans are already in effect in a number of countries, including in the Russian Federation.
The authors propose to establish some rights and obligations of participants in the educational process in the relevant law, including the right of teachers to respect for human dignity, protection from all forms of physical and mental violence, and personal insults.
Deputies were interested in the course of the discussion of the draft law in the first reading whether it was possible to include in the law the possibility of using gadgets in the classroom for educational purposes. The relevant Committee promised to take these comments into consideration in the amendments when preparing the draft law for the second reading.
The legislative initiative to introduce amendments and additions to the PMR Law “On Education” was supported by the deputy corps in the first reading in the course of the plenary session. Work on the law-in-draft will continue in the second reading.
