Sports should be prestigious

The State Sports Service held an extended meeting. Work last year was summed up in its course. Among the participants of the meeting are President of Pridnestrovie Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Committee of the Supreme Council for public associations, sports, information and youth policy Igor Buga, members of the government, representatives of children’s youth sports schools, famous coaches and athletes in the republic.

The Head of the State Service on Sports Vyacheslav Sokolenko made a report to the audience. 76 kinds of sports are cultivated in the republic, 27 of which are Olympic, 8 federations are formed. Physical education and sports are conducted at 290 sports facilities. At the end of last year, Pridnestrovian athletes take first and top places at the most prestigious international competitions. In 2018, 41 athletes were awarded the honorary title Master of Sport of the PMR; four people became international-class masters of sport. All these high sporting achievements would have been impossible without development of mass sports, especially young age. 11528 future champions are engaged in sports clubs today. Sports talents are forged by 569 full-time coaches, their latest graduates from PSU.

Last year, the concept of sports development for 2019-2026 was approved. Special attention is paid in the document to the training of coaching and teaching staff. Work on the reconstruction of the Olympic Reserve School is in the final stage. Here they will give specialized secondary education plus sports on a professional basis. This facility is one of the five included in the 2018 capital investment program. The amount of funds invested in the development of the material and technical base in the sphere of sports amounted to 3.2 million rubles.

The head of the sports department in his speech complained about the eternal underfunding of the industry. In particular, the same amount (260 thousand rubles) is allocated from year to year for holding various kinds of sports events, despite the fact that they are becoming more and more.

In the course of the collegium, its participants paid attention to the practical implementation of the law adopted by the Supreme Council, which renews the “Ready for Labor and Defense” sports complex.
