Amendments to the law “On the protection of health of citizens from the effects of surrounding tobacco smoke and the consequences of tobacco consumption” were supported in the first reading in the course of the planar meeting. The author of the law-in-draft is the Deputy of the Supreme Council Grigory Dyachenko. He proposed a ban on the sale of devices that mimic tobacco smoking to minors and prohibit their use in public places. We are talking about electronic cigarettes, which are now becoming very popular. It is also proposed to establish restrictions on advertising of such devices.

The law intends to consolidate the concepts of “imitating tobacco smoking”, “devices that mimic tobacco smoking”, “electronic hookahs” and “evaporative mixtures”. The draft law will be prepared by the relevant committee on social policy, labor, family and childhood issues for consideration in the second reading.

The deputies supported legislative initiative of a group of parliamentarians from the Committee on Legislation concerning the amendment of the law “On Employment of the Population”. Galina Antyufeeva, Grigory Dyachenko, Vitaly Kalin, Vadim Lipsky and Oleg Petrik suggested expanding the circle of people receiving unemployment benefit. According to the authors, citizens who have been registered at the place of stay in the republic for a period of one year should become recipients of social guarantees of the state.
