Legislative combating drug addiction

The Supreme Council supported the initiative of a group of Deputies to register in the relevant law powers of the executive bodies of state power and local self-government in the field of prevention of illegal use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Necessary amendments will be made in the laws "On Principles of Prevention of neglect and juvenile delinquency" and "On Education". Such concepts as "prevention of illegal consumption of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, drug addiction," "anti-drug propaganda", "preventive measures", "potentially dangerous new psychoactive substances", and set the priority of preventive measures will be introduced at the legislative level. Among them – there is early identification of drug addiction facts with the help of socio-psychological testing of students in educational institutions and medical check-ups.

The work on the legislations will be continued in preparation for the second reading. The Parliament Speaker Vadim Krasnoselsky recommended involving staff of the Ministry of the Interior, and deputy of the Committee on Social Policy Ilya Vasilev - Ministry of Health Professionals to the process of improvement of legislation.
