The law on the right to discounted travel by public transport for children and students was adopted in the first reading

The law-in-draft "On Granting the Right to Discounted Travel by Public Transport to Certain Categories of Citizens" was unanimously supported by deputies at the plenary session in the first reading. The new legislative act for the republic was developed by deputies of the parliamentary Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare Sergey Cheban, Valentin Matveychuk, Vasily Kunitsky, Yakov Galak and Vladimir Pelin.

The law will record all travel benefits currently in effect in the republic for children and students of educational institutions. No new benefits will be established, the authors noted.

The law-in-draft on granting the right to discounted travel by public transport for children and students under 23 was supported by the deputy corps in the first reading. The relevant parliamentary Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare will continue to work on the bill to prepare it for consideration in the second reading.

Let us recall that the right to free travel by public transport throughout the year according to the current regulations is granted to:

– children under 7;

– students of the Republican Cadet Corps named after His Serene Highness Prince Potemkin-Tavrichesky of the PMR Internal Ministry;

– students of the Tiraspol Suvorov Military School;

– students of the Olympic Reserve School;

A discount of 50% of the ticket price is granted to:

– schoolchildren on city and suburban routes from September 1 to July 1 (except Sundays and holidays);

– children from 5 to 10 years old on intercity routes (with the right to occupy a separate seat). When traveling with a passenger with two or more children under 10 years of age, one of them travels free of charge, and the rest pay 50% of the ticket price;

– full-time college, technical school and university students on urban and suburban routes from September 1 to July 1;

– full-time students of the Tiraspol Law Institute named after M.I. Kutuzov of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the PMR on urban and suburban routes from September 1 to August 1;

A discount of 25% of the ticket price is provided to:

– full-time college, technical school and university students on intercity routes from September 1 to July 1;

– full-time students of the Tiraspol Law Institute named after Kutuzov of the PMR Internal Ministry on intercity routes from September 1 to August 1.
