The law on benefits for travel by public transport for children and students has been adopted in the final reading

Work on systematization of benefits for travel by public transport for children and students has been completed. Deputies in the course of today's plenary session adopted the law-in-draft "On granting the right to preferential travel in public transport to certain categories of citizens" in the second final reading. The authors of the legislative initiative are deputies of the parliamentary Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare Sergey Cheban, Valentin Matveychuk, Vasily Kunitsky, Yakov Galak and Vladimir Pelin.

The new law records all the benefits for travel by public transport for children, schoolchildren and students that are currently in effect. These benefits were recorded previously in the Government Resolution and in the law on the republican budget for the current financial year.

The adopted law-in-draft has been sent to the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for signature. It will come into force on January 1, 2025.

According to the current regulations, the right to free travel on public transport throughout the year is granted to:

– children under 7 years old;

– students of the Republican Cadet Corps named after His Serene Highness Prince Potemkin-Tavrichesky of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic;

– students of the Tiraspol Suvorov Military School;

– students of the Olympic Reserve School;

A discount of 50% of the ticket price is granted to:

– schoolchildren on city and suburban routes from September 1 to July 1 (except Sundays and holidays);

– children from 5 to 10 years old on intercity routes (with the right to occupy a seat). When traveling with a passenger two or more children from 7 to 10 years old, one of them is transported free of charge, and the others pay travel in the amount of 50% of the ticket price (all children under 7 years old are transported free of charge - editor's note);

– full-time college, technical school and university students on city and suburban routes from September 1 to July 1;

– full-time students of the Tiraspol Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic named after Kutuzov on city and suburban routes from September 1 to August 1;

A discount of 25% of the ticket price is provided to:

– full-time college, technical school and university students on intercity routes from September 1 to July 1;

– full-time students of the Tiraspol Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic named after Kutuzov of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the PMR on intercity routes from September 1 to August 1.
