The law for preservation of health for the youth

04.11.2020

Current legislation prohibits the sale of snus, the sucking tobacco. Other chewing and sucking mixtures containing nicotine have appeared on the market in recent years. They have become popular among young people due to their availability and low cost. Deputies of the Supreme Council decided to improve the legislation and prohibit the distribution of nicotine-containing mixtures. The law-in-draft, proposed by a member of the Social Policy Committee Yuri Kravchuk, was adopted in the final reading at an online plenary meeting today.

After the amendments to the law and the Administrative Code, adopted today at the plenary session, trade in nicotine-containing mixtures will be officially banned. Otherwise, you will have to pay a fine from 100 to 300 MW (1840 - 5520 rubles). A separate article of the law provides for a fine for the sale of chewing and sucking mixtures containing nicotine to minors - from 40 to 120 MW (736 - 2208 rubles).

The adopted law-in-draft has been sent to the president for signature. The document will enter into force 14 days after its official publication.

It was stated at the Supreme Council that the legislation goes along with technical progress. The Parliament of Pridnestrovie adopted a number of laws establishing responsibility in this area.

In July, the deputies amended the norms of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Administrative responsibility has been introduced for the use by minors of devices that imitate tobacco smoking (hookahs, electronic cigarettes, vapes, spice), and their involvement in the very process of smoking tobacco. An administrative fine is imposed on parents or guardians in the amount of 10 to 15 MW. An offense committed by adolescents between the ages of 16 and 18 shall be subject to warning. The authors of the amendments to the Administrative Code are deputies of the Committee on Social Policy. The law came into force on September 1.

In addition, the Supreme Council equated electronic cigarettes, hookahs, snus with cigarettes. The sale of not only tobacco products, but also evaporative mixtures, devices simulating tobacco smoking, to minors and minors is now prohibited at the legislative level. The use of electronic cigarettes and hookahs by minors is also prohibited. The amendments proposed by the deputy of the Supreme Council Grigory Dyachenko entered into force on September 1.
