Veteran's Anniversary

Participant of the Great Patriotic War Vladimir Karpovich Zaichuk turned 95 years old. Deputy of the PMR Supreme Council Boris German congratulated the veteran on his anniversary.

Vladimir Karpovich is from Dubossary. He survived the occupation of the city by the Nazis. He was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army in the 26th training rifle regiment in the city of Nikolaev after the liberation of the city in 1944. He completed an accelerated course of study in March 1945 and was sent with the rank of junior sergeant to the 286th Infantry Division, commanded by the famous Vasily Margelov. The division at that time was in reserve and replenished with young soldiers to be sent to the front. The fighters of this call had a chance to serve in the Soviet army until 1951.

Vladimir Karpovich mastered his main military specialty - a tanker in the Guards Tank Regiment during 7 years of military service. He took the guards oath on February 23, 1947 and carried the name of the guardsman with honor through his whole life.

Vladimir Karpovich built the Dubossary hydroelectric power station, worked for many years at the city's motor transport enterprises in peacetime. He was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labor", the orders "Badge of Honor" and "Labor Glory" for selfless work.

Vladimir Karpovich is still in service today. He devotes a lot of time, effort and energy to social work. He was a member of the military-patriotic song club "Fighting Friends" for more than 20 years 10 of which years he led the club. Currently, he is the deputy chairman of the NGO "Dubossary Council of Veterans of War, Labor and the Armed Forces", actively works with young people, participating in military-patriotic events of the "Youth Renewal" republican movement.
