Anniversary of the Pridnestrovian bishop

The ruling bishop celebrated his birthday on one of the great twelve Orthodox holidays – the Exaltation of the Honourable and Life-giving Cross. In the morning, Archbishop Sawa celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Exaltation of the Honourable and Life-giving Cross in Tiraspol. This is the only church in our diocese dedicated to the holiday. He received congratulations from the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov in the afternoon. The President noted in his address to the ruling bishop that he continues the glorious work of the great Russian saints, who cared not only about preserving the faith, building new churches and parishes, but also preserving the customs, traditions and language of the region in which the diocese is located.

According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa successfully continues the work of strengthening and developing the Orthodox faith. The President awarded the Bishop the Order of Catherine the Great. Presenting the award, the PMR President recalled that the Empress expanded the expanses of the Russian Empire not only territorially, but also spiritually. Vadim Krasnoselsky wished the birthday person strength of spirit, health and strength for further service to the Fatherland and the Russian Orthodox Church.

Speaker of Parliament Alexander Korshunov noted the pastoral service of the Vladyka and his efforts to develop church life, strengthen peace and harmony in our multinational republic.

The speaker thanked Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa for his tireless ascetic work and enormous personal contribution to the creation of a spiritually strong and morally healthy society, and to the development of a fruitful dialogue between church and state.

The First President of the PMR Igor Smirnov, the Chairman of the Government of the PMR Alexander Rosenberg, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev, joined in congratulating the Bishop of the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese. Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and All Moldova, as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov, came from Moldova to congratulate the hero of the day.
