Interaction of the PMR Prosecutor's Office and the Supreme Council in 2020

03.02.2021

The Prosecutor's Office of the PMR sent 21 legislative initiatives to the Supreme Council of the PMR in 2020 (11 in 2019). The Prosecutor of the PMR Anatoly Guretsky reported this to the President Vadim Krasnoselsky today in the course of the meeting of the Collegium of the Prosecutor's Office. According to him, 5 of the introduced legislative initiatives were adopted by the parliamentary corps and signed by the President (2 in 2019), the press service of the President reports.

Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov in an interview with the parliamentary press service noted that he positively assesses the activation of the prosecutor's office as a subject of legislative initiative.

“The number of legislative initiatives has almost doubled in 2020. We are very pleased that the prosecutor's office proposes to amend the current legislation. We understand perfectly well that any legislative initiative requires a fairly deep study and is adopted by Deputies of the Supreme Council by voting. Therefore, the work on each legislative initiative is quite painstaking. If it is supported by the deputy corps, then it is adopted as a law. If the deputy corps considered that this initiative is still untimely or incomplete, then the work continues further. I am confident that in 2021, despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, cooperation between the prosecutor's office and the legislature will continue. We will work to improve the current legislation, and we are always glad to listen to the opinion of the PMR Prosecutor's Office”, said the speaker of the Pridnestrovian Parliament Alexander Korshunov.
