Import of personal vehicles with foreign registration plates

A package of legislations aimed at securing the possibility of temporary importation of vehicles with foreign numbers in a simplified manner with the payment of a vignette fee not only for personal use, but also for the transportation of persons for a fee, industrial or commercial transportation of goods for a fee or free of charge with the possibility of temporary transfer by the declarant of an imported vehicle to another individual, subject to the confirmation of the right to use the vehicle by the person to whom the temporarily imported vehicle was transferred, was considered today by parliamentarians in the first reading.

The vignette fee is paid for a specific individual who imports a car into the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic currently, under the current legislation. However, a vignette fee in most states is paid for the passage of a car on the roads as a rule, regardless of who drives this transport. Other restrictions are also applied in Pridnestrovie. For example, the car should only be used for personal purposes. Transportation of persons for remuneration, industrial or commercial transportation of goods for remuneration or free of charge is currently prohibited. The author of the legislative initiative, the chairman of the relevant parliamentary committee on economic policy, considers that it is necessary to simplify the procedure for the transfer of vehicles registered in foreign countries.

The parliamentarian considers that the adoption of a package of legislative initiatives will remove some of the discrepancies and facilitate the activities of individual entrepreneurs who own vehicles with foreign numbers.
