The leadership of Pridnestrovie holds a meeting with veterans of the Great Patriotic War to thank them for their heroism and courage, to pay attention and assure that their feat will not be forgotten in honor of May 9 Traditionally. The "Dugout" event was held in Tiraspol in the square of the Palace of Culture.
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War Vladimir Ivanovich Gromov, Aleksey Ivanovich Zhdanov and Konstantin Ivanovich Puganov, veteran of the USSR Armed Forces Valery Ivanovich Glazkov and prisoner of fascist concentration camps Tatyana Efimovna Poyato are the guests of honor of the "Dugout" (Zemlyanka). The top officials of the state came to share with them the joy of the Victory of 1945. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky congratulated all the veterans and thanked them, as well as the entire generation of victors, for their contribution to the spring of 1945.
“The Generation of Victors is passing. Only a few remain. Fortunately, you are with us, and we are with you now. I am convinced of this, you will remain in the memory of both the current and future generations forever. We were brought up this way, we were taught this way, we live this way. Studying history, you understand how great was the feat of literally every representative of the generation of Victors: both at the front, and behind the front line, and in concentration camps, and ground job – the hardest work in agriculture and in production. Everyone brought the Victory closer,” noted the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky.
The 80th anniversary of the Victory in Pridnestrovie was celebrated by 12 participants in the Great Patriotic War. More than 200 were prisoners of fascism, home front workers, and children of war. Only three out of the five veterans living in Tiraspol found the strength to come to the "Dugout". Aleksey Ivanovich Zhdanov volunteered for the front. He joined the 1st Baltic Front in 1944.
Vladimir Gromov was drafted into the Red Army at the age of 17. He fought in the infantry, on the 2nd Baltic Front. Veteran Konstantin Puganov and Tatyana Poyato are at the same table. She headed the society of prisoners of fascism in Tiraspol many years. The Germans took adults and children into captivity as labor. Tatyana Efimovna experienced the horrors of fascism as a child. The First President of the PMR Igor Smirnov was also present at the "Zemlyanka", he also thanked the veterans present, home front workers, and in their person all the Soviet heroes, for saving the Motherland from fascism. If there had been no victory of the Soviet people over fascist Germany, it is unknown what the world would have been like, noted Galina Antyufeeva. The Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council emphasized that they study history and preserve the memory of all the heroes in Pridnestrovie. The artists presented creative performances for veterans, home front workers, children of war, prisoners of concentration camps. According to tradition, there was soldier's porridge, hot tea, and most importantly - attention to each other, communication and joy for Victory Day.
