The Meeting at the Federation Council of the Russian Federation

The parliamentary-governmental delegation of Pridnestrovie continued today meetings with Russian politicians. Pridnestrovian government officials headed by Alexander Korshunov met with the Head of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin (appointed on 17.03.2021 instead of K. Kosachev) and his deputy Farit Mukhametshin. Both senators are well acquainted with Pridnestrovie and the problems of its citizens. Grigory Karasin was previously the Secretary of State - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia and for many years was engaged in the Moldovan- Pridnestrovian settlement. Farit Mukhametshin before being elected to the Federation Council was the Russian ambassador to Moldova and often visited Tiraspol. The meeting was also attended by Senator Sergei Muratov, who visited Pridnestrovie in the fall of 2020.

Alexander Korshunov, Galina Antyufeyeva, Victor Guzun, Vitaly Ignatiev and Alexey Melnik discussed with the senators the issues of expanding interregional cooperation, assistance in the regular work of the consular department in Tiraspol, opportunities and prospects for obtaining trade and economic preferences for economic agents of Pridnestrovie, support of Russian compatriots living in region, combating the coronavirus pandemic. Attention was paid to promising areas of cooperation in the trade, economic and financial spheres. An exchange of views took place on the situation around the Pridnestrovian settlement.

Organizing and holding the Interregional Economic Forum under the auspices of the Federation Council was discussed. The Forum should help the Pridnestrovian towns to establish partnership, business, trade and economic relations with the regions of Russia.

Alexander Korshunov at the end of the meeting congratulated Grigory Karasin on his appointment as chairman of the Committee on International Affairs and conveyed greetings and congratulations to Konstantin Kosachev on the occasion of his appointment as Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
