Meeting with representatives of national communities

Vadim Krasnoselsky met today with the leaders and activists of public organizations that represent different nationalities living in Pridnestrovie in the House of Official Receptions of the Administration of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Galina Antyufeeva took part in the meeting.

The PMR President noted that representatives of the Russian, Moldovan, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Gagauz, German, Belarusian, Azerbaijani, Armenian, Jewish and Roma diasporas came to the meeting. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the situation around Pridnestrovie and in the republic. Vadim Krasnoselsky called the current situation difficult, but noted that even in such conditions the country needs development. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic said that outside influence would not change the essence of Pridnestrovie, which is based on national diversity and the absence of interethnic conflicts.

Representatives of 72 nationalities live freely in the republic today, he recalled. Pridnestrovians provide assistance to those who find themselves in a difficult life situation regardless of nationality.

Representatives of national diasporas talked about supporting refugees, because 30 years ago Ukraine hosted Pridnestrovians who needed temporary shelter and support. A memorial plaque was even installed on the station square of Tiraspol in memory of this in 2019, which became a symbol of gratitude to the Pridnestrovians to the residents of the neighboring state.

They touched upon in the course of the meeting the topic of the inadmissibility of using the "transnistria" term in relation to Pridnestrovie. Despite the fact that it is translated as “the territory beyond the Dniester”, for Pridnestrovians this word has become a reminder of the years of fascism and nationalism in the Great Patriotic War and is synonymous with the Holocaust. The Head of the Union of Moldovans of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Sergei Sandu noted that the only printed publication in the Moldovan language today, the newspaper Adevărul Nistryan, following the traditions of Moldovan journalists and publicists, always translates the name of our state as Nistrenia.

The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic told in the course of the meeting about the meetings with European diplomats, the results of the meeting of the Security Council, as well as the measures taken by the state to ensure the security of citizens, including food security. Social activists noted that Moldova, even in the current foreign policy conditions has not eased the pressure, but only aggravates the blockade of Pridnestrovie, finding new tools and resources.

They talked in the course of the meeting about attracting investments to the republic and the participation of public organizations in this work. Some plans related to preparations for the Victory Day and the Easter holidays were discussed. The parties agreed that society is participation recovering from the pandemic.
