The Meeting of the Founders of the Republic with the Youth

16.06.2023

The founders of the republic held a meeting with the youth. The conversation on the eve of the day of the Bendery tragedy was about the prerequisites for the creation of Pridnestrovie, patriotism and the fight against Nazism. Pupils and students of educational institutions of the republic, deputies of the Youth Parliament gathered in the small hall of the Palace of the Republic. As speakers, the First President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Igor Smirnov, Deputy of the Supreme Council of the 1st convocation Petr Zalojkov and Deputy of the Supreme Council of the 1st-4th convocations Vladimir Rylyakov. They have been members of the Consultative Assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies under the Chairman of the Supreme Council since 2016.

The deputies talked about the foreign situation of the 1970s and the policy of the West, about the situation in the late 1980s on the banks of the Dniester, about the fact that in Moldova in 1989 laws on languages were adopted in which Russian was not defined as the second state language.

There were strikes by Pridnestrovian enterprises, referendums on the creation of the Pridnestrovian MSSR and congresses of deputies of all levels were held in the period from 1989 to 1990. The first Pridnestrovian deputies emphasized the role of labor collectives. During the strike, they were supported by about 160 large and medium-sized enterprises from all over Moldova, it was noted at the meeting.

The Pridnestrovians had to defend this freedom in the tragic year of 1992 during the armed aggression of Moldova against Pridnestrovie. The aggressors have been attacking Dubossary and Bendery since March, and the most terrible events began after the invasion of armed groups in Bendery on June 19, 1992. Hundreds of people, including civilians and children, have died in 40 days of hostilities. Armed aggression was stopped by Russian peacekeepers, who entered the city on July 29, 1992.

One of the participants Elena Duminika, who is a second-year student at the Bendery Pedagogical College, spoke about the need to hold such meetings with young people.
