World Orthodox Youth Day in Pridnestrovie

World Orthodox Youth Day is celebrated on the 15th of February, the day of Presentation of Jesus at the Temple. According to tradition, the Republican mass event “You are in my heart”, organized by the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese, took place this day at the cultural and educational center of Republican State University named after Taras Shevchenko. The main theme of this year’s event was “The role of Orthodoxy in preserving family values.”

Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa thanked in his speech the leadership of the republic for supporting traditional family values at the state level.

The guest of honor of the event was the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Galina Antyufeeva. She voiced from the stage of the cultural and educational center the welcoming address of the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov.

Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council Galina Antyufeyeva reminded those present that 2024 has been declared the Year of Family Values in Pridnestrovie.

The President of the Pridnestrovian State University, Professor Stepan Beril noted that it is in the family that the system of moral, cultural, religious and patriotic values is reflected in any period of time in the history of mankind.

Deputy Minister of Education of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Natalya Soldatova spoke about the education of spiritual values among young people. In her speech, she noted the importance of the participation of the clergy and the diocese in charitable and social projects, youth spiritual and educational events and work with the younger generation.

Natalya Soldatova noted that it is necessary to pay attention to spiritual and moral education not only in the classroom, but also in extracurricular activities. So, the “Dialogue on Equals” project was launched in the 2023-24 academic year. A series of open lessons is planned with various representatives of government bodies of the republic as part of this project. The first history lesson was held with the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky on December 1, 2023.

The republic has adopted the Concept of the state family policy of the PMR for 2021-2026, within the framework of which activities aimed at strengthening the institution of family are being carried out throughout Pridnestrovie. This includes events dedicated to the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, which is celebrated in the republic on the 8th of July.
