World Post Day

09.10.2020

Dear postal workers and veterans!

On behalf of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and me personally please receive congratulations on the World Post Day!

It was decided to create holiday in 1969, at the XVI Congress of the Universal Postal Union, held in Tokyo. World Post Day was first celebrated in 1970. The chosen date has a symbolic meaning: it is timed to coincide with the founding of the Universal Postal Union on October 9, 1874.

The first mention of the post office on the territory of Tiraspol was found in the documents of the archival fund of the state archive of the Kherson region in the "Decrees of the Voznesensk governorship and reports of county surveyors of 1794–1796".

Mail is one of the oldest forms of communication. Despite the constant development of new communication technologies, mail remains one of the most massive and accessible types of communication: it provides reception, sending and delivery of various postal items, parcels, distribution of periodicals (newspapers, magazines) and performs information functions of government bodies.

The Tiraspol post office is one of the first enterprises of the postal service of Pridnestrovie that introduced the PMR calendar stamps, before that the calendar stamps of the USSR and the Republic of Moldova were used.

Thanks to the high professionalism and responsibility of postal workers, modern mail today expands the range of services, raises the level of postal service, and ensures reliable and efficient postal communication.

I am sure that constant creative search, enthusiasm, introduction of modern technologies will continue to allow the postal workers of Pridnestrovie to successfully fulfill their tasks and reach new professional heights!

I sincerely wish you and your families good health and well-being! May good luck always accompany you and never leave your confidence in the future!
