The war is not over until the last soldier is buried

Russian parliamentarians want to prepare a package of amendments to federal legislation that will allow them to conduct search work more efficiently. Changes are planned to be made to the Federal Law "On perpetuating the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland", in the Water and Forest Codes and a number of other documents.

The Parliamentarian offers to send all the ideas and proposals to the Chamber. Bikbaev supposes that it is necessary to give appropriate powers and prescribe more precise and strict responsibility of local authorities, on the balance of which most often there are burial places. In addition, he is confident of the need to finalize the mechanism for the participation of municipalities in the improvement of memorials, monuments and other graves.

The day of the Unknown Soldier, established by the State Duma in 2014, is one of the most important memorable dates in history. More than 73 years have passed since the end of the Great Patriotic War. According to various estimates, there from two and a half to four million people are missing in Russia. This was told at a press conference by the executive secretary of the Search Movement of Russia, the chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for Youth Affairs, Volunteering and Patriotic Education Elena Tsunaeva.

As Generalissimo Suvorov said, the war is not over until the last soldier is buried. Requests to help find the missing fighters, learn the fate of the father, grandfather, great-grandfather continue to go and go. Every year it is possible to find out more than 20 thousand remains of Soviet soldiers and determine about one thousand names of the dead, but, as it is easy to calculate, with such rates of work the domestic scavengers are ahead even for years and decades.

They talked at press conference about problems because of which they often fail to establish the fate of the deceased defenders of the Fatherland. In particular, Ildar Bikbaev, who has extensive experience in search work, told that most of the reports during the war were filled up by hearing, and because of this they often distorted the names of the fighters, especially if they were of non-Slavic origin. Constantly there are discrepancies and when working with German archival documents.

There will be in the Crimea a traditional search military-historical expedition to Adzhimushka, which has been running for 46 consecutive seasons since 1972. As its leader, the chairman of the Council of the Crimean regional branch of the Search Movement of Russia Vladimir Simonov, said, the main task of the search engines is to establish the names of all fighters of the heroic underground garrison. According to the historian, according to the latest estimates, five or six thousand people took part in the defense of the Adzhimushkay quarries, while about half of them are known, and there is a complete socio-demographic description, and only 200 people.

Now several important projects are being implemented in Russia. One of them is "Fate of a Soldier". In its framework in 44 regions of the country, 100 public reception rooms were opened, which collected more than two thousand applications for the establishment of the fate of the defenders of the Fatherland. Last year, the international conference "Fate of the Soldier: Theory and Practice of Archival Studies" gathered more than 100 participants from 11 countries. During the implementation of the project "The Road to the Obelisk", they study the information indicated on the military graves, verify the data of the archives and passports of burial places, and put in order the abandoned obelisks. The project "Return from captivity" is to study the fate of Soviet soldiers who fell into fascist captivity during the war. The project "Heaven of the Motherland" unites information, methodological and organizational resources, which are engaged in the search for missing aircraft. All together they bring the final conclusion of the Great Patriotic War closer - in the Suvorov sense.
