07.02.2025

Deputy Chairperson of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Galina Antyufeeva thanked the volunteers of the headquarters "We are near" for helping single pensioners, disabled people, large and low-income families during the energy crisis. Activists delivered food, medicine, heaters, and provided information and psychological assistance.

The hotline of the volunteer headquarters received about 1.5 thousand calls in January. About 300 requests were fulfilled throughout the republic. The most active volunteers were awarded in response to the kindness and care, with certificates of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and letters of gratitude from the volunteer headquarters "We are near".

The volunteer headquarters "We are near" operates under the "Obnovlenie" party. It was formed in March 2020, at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, although the party activists had been providing assistance to Pridnestrovians long before that. In total, there are about 180 activists in the volunteer headquarters. Vice-speaker and chairperson of the republican party "Obnovlenie" Galina Antyufeeva noted the joint work of the headquarters with the Union of Russian Communities, the ministries of education and internal affairs of Pridnestrovie.

The head of the volunteer headquarters "We are near" Yulia Pleshko said that calls to the hotline (533) 52 555 began to come in actively in early January, from the very beginning of the energy crisis. Pridnestrovians were left without heating and hot water in their homes and apartments, and rolling blackouts began for many hours due to the lack of gas supplies to the PMR. People asked for help in this crisis situation.

The headquarters hotline received up to 50 calls per day. Lonely pensioners, people with special needs, and large families asked for help in most cases. Many calls were received with a request to buy and bring heaters and fan heaters, and asking for help in finding them for free use.

Most of the calls came from Tiraspol residents, and to a lesser extent from residents of Rybnitsa, Dubossary, Bendery, and Slobodzeya. The Chairperson of the Slobodzeya District City Council Tatyana Zalevskaya addressed the volunteers with words of gratitude.

Kristina Milik, an activist of the “We are near” headquarters, has been volunteering for about 5 years. She did not stand aside, visiting 10-15 addresses per day during the energy crisis. Gleb Burlak, a 9th-grader at School No. 9 of Tiraspol, recently joined the ranks of volunteers. The schoolboy considers that volunteering is a very useful activity.

Calls to the hotline of the volunteer headquarters "We are here" continue to come in, but now there are fewer of them than at the height of the January energy crisis. Volunteers as before provide assistance to those in need.
