Instead of one felled tree – two new ones

13.07.2022

Deputies voted at the plenary session today for the adoption of amendments to the Forest Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the first reading. We are talking about the introduction on the territory of the republic of the institution of compensatory gardening and the establishment at the legislative level of an obligation to plant two instead of one felled tree.

The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky repeatedly spoke about the need for such an approach to green spaces earlier. The legislative initiative prepared by the Government proposes to make double compensatory planting mandatory for the entire territory of the republic. The principle “instead of one felled tree – two new ones” will have to work both in settlements, parks, squares, arboretums, botanical gardens, groves, boulevards, and on agricultural land.

Parliamentarians supported this initiative. Work on the law-in-draft will continue in September, after the parliamentary recess.
