Pridnestrovians elected the head of state for the next five years today from 7.00 to 20.00. There were two candidates on the ballots: President Vadim Krasnoselsky, who has been in office for five years, and Sergei Pynzar, a deputy of the Council of People's Deputies of the Grigoriopol region and the city of Grigoriopol.
Representatives of state power and government bodies did not stay away from this main political event in our republic. The leadership of the parliament and the deputies of the Supreme Council came to the polling stations together with the Pridnestrovians.
According to the Central Election Commission, international observers from five countries and journalists from four foreign media accredited by the CEC attended the presidential elections.
Senator of the Russian Federation from the Sakhalin region Yuri Arkharov and deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the party "New People" Anton Tkachev also arrived in Pridnestrovie. They visited polling stations in Dnestrovsk and Slobodzeya district. The Russian guests noted the high level of training of the precinct commissions and the great attention that the election organizers paid to the observance of sanitary and epidemiological safety measures. All polling stations were regularly cleaned, voters were disinfected at the entrance to the polling stations and, if necessary, were given medical masks.
144 thousand 136 Pridnestrovians came to the polling stations by 20:00, according to preliminary results. 43 thousand 549 people voted in Tiraspol, 24 277 in Bendery, 12 036 in Grigoriopol, 10 514 in Dubossary, 8 807 in Kamenka, 21 623 in Rybnitsa, 23 330 in Slobozeya.
The CEC will announce the preliminary election results tomorrow.
