The spring session is over: the results from the Speaker

11.07.2018

After considering fifty legislations during the plenary session, the Chairman of the Supreme Council, Alexander Shcherba, announced the end of the fifth session of the VI convocation. The speaker summed up the work of the parliament over the past six months.

"15 plenary sessions were held in the spring session. Heated discussions in this hall often aimed at achieving important state tasks - improving the quality of life of citizens, increasing their welfare. Truth is born in a dispute. This is beyond doubt. Expressing different opinions, we can hear each other. Using constructive dialogue is the right way. This will help in achieving the goals that our voters have set for us.

We have examined hundreds of legislations over the past six months. Among them there is a new investment legislation. The document was developed by the government, significantly finalized by the deputies, while taking into account the opinions of all subjects of the legislative initiative. Today, the Government has the necessary guidelines, all sorts of tools for regulating investment activities. This, in the long run, will help increase the investment attractiveness of the state, balance the budget.

The deputy corps adopted another new law - "On public procurement in the PMR". The work in this part needs continuation, to settle the issue at the level of by-laws. Public procurement should be economical, objective, expedient.

As part of the autumn session, we will continue to work on the draft concept of fiscal and tax policies for 2018 and the medium term. We do not accuse anyone of the fact that in 2017 we lived without a concept. This year was devoted to its development, presentation and consideration. We hope that this document will form the basis of Pridnestrovie development strategy for the next 8 years, which is being developed by the government on behalf of the president.

I wish all of us that this little break (not on drafting legislations, but on their review and adoption) has given us a new impetus. In the future parliamentary season, we will begin to consider topical, pressing documents that will be aimed at the development of the state and society, improving the living standards of our citizens".
