Loyalty to Duty and Memory

November 17-19, Moscow hosted the 4th international gathering of soldiers-internationalists of the CIS, Baltic countries, near and far abroad "Veterans of wars and armed conflicts for peace, good-neighborliness and a decent quality of life". The Veteran meeting was held for two days, and began with the traditional laying of wreaths at the monument to an internationalist soldier on Poklonnaya Hill. The memory of the fallen was honored by several hundred veterans who came to the Russian capital from two dozen states. Among the participants of the meeting there were students and cadets of military academies and schools, students of cadet corps, pupils of Suvorov Military College, members of military historical associations, search squads and the youth patriotic movement "Unarmia". The Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic was represented by the deputy of the Supreme Council, chairman of the Pridnestrovian Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan, Igor Buga. Pridnestrovie has more than 1,700 combatants in Afghanistan. Veteran organizations of Afghan warriors are doing a lot of work on military-patriotic education of the youth, helping families of veterans.

People who know war not from books and films, talked about the importance of preserving peace and good-neighborliness, fighting nationalism and terrorism. The veterans and new forms and methods of military-patriotic education of youth, the formation of an active life position, interethnic and interreligious tolerance, ways of increasing the effectiveness of cooperation between state bodies and public organizations at the interstate level, improving the quality of life of veterans of war were discussed.

The deputy of the Supreme Council, chairman of the Pridnestrovian Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan, also noted that in March 2017 the International Union of Public Associations "Public Committee of War Veterans" accepted the Pridnestrovian Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan as a full member.

The organizers of the meeting are the International Union of Public Associations "Public Committee of War Veterans", the Committee on the Affairs of Internationalist Warriors at the Council of CIS Heads of Government, the All-Russian Public Organization "War Veterans of Russia" and the Moscow Association of Local Wars and Military Conflicts.
