The Consolidated report on the situation of children in the republic at today's plenary session of the PMR Supreme Council was discussed by deputies. Deputy Minister of Education of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Natalya Soldatova presented the main statistical data to the parliamentarians.
The average child population of the republic in 2023 was 81821 people, according to the data provided in the report. This is 1.6% less than the year before. There is a decrease in the birth rate by 8.2%.
155 kindergartens and 158 schools operated in the republic in 2023, including 37 "school-kindergarten" complexes.
Following the report, the deputies and official representatives of the Government discussed a number of pressing problems identified as a result of the analysis of the report.
The deputies spoke about the problem of acute shortage of personnel in the sphere of education and healthcare.
The deputies proposed the need to develop additional support measures for teachers, especially for young specialists.
Another pressing problem for Pridnestrovian schoolchildren and their parents is the high workload in schools. This is discussed in all cities and districts of the republic, the deputies note.
The Chairman of the relevant parliamentary Committee on Education emphasized that today the educational institutions of the republic have sufficient powers to optimize the workload within the established standards. Including the formation of a curriculum in which lessons can be held in pairs, or individual subjects can be taken out as electives. However, the deputies and representatives of the Government noted that such measures, unfortunately, are not applied everywhere. The participants in the discussion agreed that the problem requires further discussion.
