The state program for the restoration of oak forests in Pridnestrovie is aimed at carrying out reforestation and sanitary felling, restoring forests by creating oak crops, growing pedunculate oak, developing scientific recommendations for forest restoration, monitoring the state of forest resources and developing an information system.
This is one of the longest-term programs in the republic, it is designed for 20 years. More than 1 million rubles are allocated annually for its purposes. The money is allocated from the Republican Environmental Fund and funds from the Pridnestrovie-Forest enterprise.
The forest area is more than 30 thousand hectares in Pridnestrovie. The territory of Pridnestrovie belongs to sparsely forested regions with forest cover of only 7.6%, while the optimal level is considered to be 12–14%. One of the main tree species in our forests is pedunculate oak. It occupies 6.1 thousand hectares, which is 29% of the total forest area. The age of these plantations varies from 80 to 120 years, and the optimal age for cutting them down is 81–90 years. Extensive sanitary and reforestation work was carried out in the Kamenka, Rashkovo and Dubossary forest districts on a total area of 11.6 hectares in 2023. Acorns were planted on the cleaned forest areas with an area of 11.7 hectares. It was planned last year to plant new oak trees on an area of at least 12.5 hectares. 93.6% of the planned volume of work was completed in fact.
Deputies of the Supreme Council actively participate in landscaping, cleanup days and plant trees at environmental events. They emphasize the importance of ecology and personal participation in nature conservation by doing this.
