Deputies of the Supreme Council adopted the state program "Oncology: improving oncological care for the population of the PMR" for 2021–2025 in the second reading. The previous program expires at the end of this year.
Totally over 200 million rubles will be allocated for the program for 5 years. At the same time, the cost of purchasing drugs and medicines in comparison with the previous program has increased threefold and amount to 157 million rubles. Funding is also provided for preventive measures, for example, for research that allows for the early detection of cancer. This will increase the effectiveness of treatment and reduce the number of deaths and disabilities from diseases. The program also includes funds for training and advanced training of doctors and health workers who treat cancer patients.
According to oncologists, there are more than 11 thousand cancer patients in Pridnestrovie. One in four of them sought medical help at the last stage of the disease. Therefore, work on the prevention of diseases and psychological support for the patient and his relatives occupies an important place in the state target program. Unlike the previous program, financing for the construction of a specialized center to provide care to cancer patients and equipping it with the necessary medical equipment will be allocated from the Capital Investment Fund.
