The Supreme Council and Government develop support measures for agricultural producers

Pridnestrovian farmers who suffer losses due to drought, spring frosts and restrictions associated with the state of emergency due to the new coronavirus will be able to receive support from the state. Law-in-draft on support measures for farmers has been prepared by the Government. Today it was considered in the course of the plenary meeting of the Supreme Council, which took place online.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the crop died on 61 thousand hectares of, the damage is 571 million rubles, due to spring frosts, damage to fruit crops is estimated at 74 million rubles. Totally, the damage from the death of the crop, according to the relevant Ministry, is about $ 40 million. Presenting the bill to the deputies, said the Minister of Economic Development, Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Obolonik outlined a set of measures developed by the Government to support agricultural organizations and peasant farms. This is a soft loan to replenish working capital and to restore crops; prolongation of previously issued loans for 1 year; exemption from payment of land tax, share collection and fixed agricultural tax from lands on which the loss of harvest is recorded; lower income tax rates for enterprises that process their own vegetables and fruits.

Deputies agree that the farmers need help, the law-in-draft was adopted in the first reading. The Head of the Committee on Agriculture Oleg Leontyev emphasized that the law-in-draft was timely, but it was necessary to finalize it by the second reading. To this end, deputies will talk to farmers in districts and villages and will study in more detail the problems that agriculture has encountered due to drought and quarantine measures.
