Eternal Memory and Eternal Glory

May 9, 1945 - is the day when the sounds of artillery battles gave way to festive volleys of salute when Great Victory entered the chronicle of the people. It entered the history by the names of heroes liberators, a huge number of monuments, obelisks. The war also affected the families of Pridnestrovians. More than 18,500 countrymen from Rybnitsa, Kamenka, Dubossary, Grigoriopol, Tiraspol, Slobodzeya and Bendery were killed in the battles of the Great Patriotic War. Approximately 50 thousand citizens died during the occupation.

Leadership of the republic, deputies of the Supreme Council, war veterans, home front workers, visitors from the Russian Federation congratulated the veterans and honored the memory of fallen soldiers in the capital Memorial of Glory.

Victory in the Great Patriotic War - is a sacred holiday for citizens of all countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. A striking event this year, the Year of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, was the International action "Marathon of Memory". Its representatives visited the capital of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS countries, the largest memorials in honor of the heroes of the Second World War, met with veterans and youth, and took part in various events to mark the anniversary of the Great Victory in its course.

Member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Igor Morozov made congratulation talk to veterans. He called the Iasi-Kishinev operation as the brightest events of the Great Patriotic War, which went down in history of military art.

Deputy of the Supreme Council Grigory Dyachenko considers that younger generation should be educated basing on the feat of veterans. His grandparents and uncle fought during the Great Patriotic war. Unfortunately, they, like other veterans, took their place in a “swan flock”.

The flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers are as a symbol of memory, love and respect for the heroism of the Soviet people.
