May 22, 1916 for Bendery – is a memorable date, which has historical and cultural significance. On the Day of St. Nicolai the city of Bendery was awarded the visit of the Imperial family. Russian Emperor Nicolai II with August wife and children visited the Bendery fortress and the local military hospital, talked with the wounded, praying in the temple of Saint Blessed Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky and made a review of the troops going to the front. Hundred years have passed from that day, and the memory of the visit is to last.

Archbishop Tiraspol and Dubossary Savva held the Divine Liturgy with the participation of clergy Tiraspol-Dubossary Diocese in the church of Alexander Nevsky on the occasion of the historic date.

There was a concert of the Pridnestrovian State Choir on the occasion. There were spiritual and musical works of Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky.

The Supreme Council Chairman Vadim Krasnoselsky with his wife and members of parliament shared the joy of celebration with residents of Bendery. The first President of PMR Igor Smirnov made great contribution to the reconstruction of the temple. Restoration work was carried out under the supervision of the Minister of Internal Affairs, and current Speaker Vadim Krasnoselsky. Today, the church of Alexander Nevsky is the jewel of the city and the republic.

A welcome address was read on behalf of the Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna Romanova. It includes - thanks for efforts to perpetuate the memory of the royal family and loyal companions, who worked for the benefit of Russia. The representative of the Romanov dynasty awarded a medal to commemorate a century of war 1914-1918, the number of organizers and participants of the celebrations, which took place in 2014 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the First World War. Among the awarded commemorative medal were Igor Smirnov, Vadim Krasnoselsky.

There was a Presentation of a commemorative postage stamp and envelope, as well as a commemorative medal and a medal to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the visit of the imperial family in Bendery in the church of Alexander Nevsky. A series of photographic postcards of historical subjects has been released on the occasion of the anniversary. During the presentation old print of Alexander Nevsky temple was put on the printed product.

A memorial sign at the place of royal gazebo at the building of the temple was laid in honor of the historic event. The ceremony was attended by Speaker Vadim Krasnoselsky, First President of PMR Igor Smirnov, deputy of the Supreme Council, the clergy of the republic, representatives of state administration and local Bendery Council residents of Bendery and guests.

Religious procession from the church of Alexander Nevsky to Pushkin audience continued the celebrations.
