Russian Institute of Strategic Studies held a meeting of the scientific-practical round table "The stability of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the conditions of internal and external challenges". It was attended by the delegation of Supreme Council PMR headed by Chairman Vadim Krasnoselsky.
The head of the Pridnestrovian Parliament in his speech paid particular attention to the continuation of the peacekeeping operation on the banks of the Dniester.
Leadership of the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies in the person of Leonid Reshetnikov confirmed the interest of the Russian academic community in developing contacts with Pridnestrovie. At the same time, he emphasized that largely shares the doubts of Pridnestrovian parliament leadership on the prospects of creation of artificial forms of structure of states between Moldova and Pridnestrovie, which ultimately could lead Pridnestrovie to the transformation to the part of the western world.
Particular attention during the round table was paid to the political situation in Pridnestrovie. The head of Pridnestrovian parliament declared the absence of any reason to talk about domestic political "confrontation" in PMR. Generating this kind of abstracts can be used by foreign unfriends of Russia and Pridnestrovie. According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, there are no preconditions for the political destabilization in Pridnestrovie.
In the course of the round table was discussed the economic issues associated with the new terms of introduction of economic activity in the republic. The need for careful attention to the prospects of development of trade was noted from the Russian side, as any Western partners offer may be preconditioned by political conditions. Understanding of such concerns was expressed from Pridnestrovian side, but at the same time the need for a higher level of involvement of Pridnestrovian parliamentarians in dialogue related to future trade PMR and the EU was emphasized. Pridnestrovian parliamentarians thus agreed on the necessity of economic pragmatism of Pridnestrovian relations with foreign states and international organizations, as well as building a model of Pridnestrovian relations with the Russian federal structures, which would correspond to the usual practice of interaction between the federal center to the regions of Russia.
Members of the Pridnestrovian delegation drew attention of Russian colleagues that hard-working and professional parliament that can solve problems of different levels was elected in Pridnestrovie. They hope that Russian scientific community in the face of Russian Institute of Strategic Studies are able to formulate new ideas and challenges for further cooperation, especially on social and economic track. Separately, it highlighted the need to develop a joint strategy for the economic development of Pridnestrovie, which would promote the development of long-term contacts between Russia and Pridnestrovie.
Pridnestrovian deputies expressed readiness to expand cooperation with Russian regions in the context of the opportunities and obligations that are based on the political and legal status of the Russian Federation as a state-guarantor and mediator in the negotiation process.
