The IX Assembly of the Russian world was held in Suzdal

The Assembly was attended by government officials and civil society activists, political experts, scholars and teachers of Russian language and literature, culture and education, with more than 600 people from 60 countries.

Speaking at the launch, chairman of the board of trustees of "The Russky Mir" Lyudmila Verbitskaya read out greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the participants of the Assembly summing up the work of the Fund for the year.

Among the achievements there is an opening of new Russian centers in Bulgaria, Spain, Italy; Russianists forums, among them – the XIII congress of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature in Granada, the IV European Youth Festival in Bulgaria Kamchia festival "Sails Russian world" in St. Petersburg, the Second World Teachers forum of the Fussian World in Vladimir.

Opening the IX Russian World Assembly, chairman of "The Russky Mir", the chairman of the State Duma committee on education Vyacheslav Nikonov recalled the historical heritage of the Kievan Rus, the contribution to the all-Russian culture of the Vladimir-Suzdal. He emphasized that, unfortunately, we have reached more than 10% of the literary heritage of Kievan Rus, which was almost universal literacy.

The head of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Slutsky Eurasian integration read the participants of the V World Congress of Compatriots message from the Chairman of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin.

According to Leonid Slutsky, special attention should be paid to Russian-language education in the world. He recalled that in many countries of the former Soviet Union, there are only a few Russian schools.

Assembly is the largest event in the activities of "The Russky Mir" Foundation. By tradition, the forum is dated to the Day of National Unity.

Let’s remember that Pridnestrovian parliamentarians have participated in previous Assemblies of the Russian world, which were held in various Russian cities. Personal invitations addressed some lawmakers this convocation came from the organizers of large-scale public forum this year.
