09.05.2023

The traditional May 9 dugout was organized in Tiraspol. It is held every year. Veterans, home front workers, blockade survivors, and their relatives gather at the table. They listen together with the first persons of the state to the songs of the war years and remember the heroes. Veterans of the Great Patriotic War Vladimir Ivanovich Gromov, Alexei Ivanovich Zhdanov and Konstantin Ivanovich Puganov, home front worker Galina Semyonovna Shcherbina, veteran of the Armed Forces Valery Ivanovich Glazkov and his wife Valentina Fedorovna were among the guests of honor this year. The first persons of the republic were with the veterans. The guests were treated to traditional soldier's porridge, which was prepared here, in the field kitchen, and sweet tea. The obligatory program includes songs of the war and about the war. The guests sang compositions known for many decades together with the performers. Here are the famous "Blue Handkerchief", "Cranes", "Dugout", "At the nameless height", "Katyusha" and "Victory Day", of course.

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky addressed the veterans and guests of the traditional May 9 dugout. The President called for respect for history, loyalty to traditions and the memory of ancestors. He expressed special gratitude to the veterans, emphasizing that it is nationwide.

The First President of the PMR Igor Smirnov also spoke about the Victory and feat of the Soviet soldier. He added that almost half a century after the Great Victory, Pridnestrovie again had to face nationalism. However, today we can say with confidence that any culture and nationality is honored and respected in the republic. After all, the main thing for our country is peace.

Today, about 600 veterans of the Great Patriotic War and persons equated to them live in Pridnestrovie. These are blockade survivors, prisoners of fascism, invalids of the Great Patriotic War, widows, home front workers. May 9 has always been a special, truly festive day for all of them. This is the day when they rejoice at the Great Victory gained by such hard work and multimillion-dollar losses in battles.

The Parliament Speaker Alexander Korshunov said that there are those who fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, worked in the rear and gave everything for the Victory in the family of every resident of Pridnestrovie, including the most valuable thing – life. Therefore, Victory Day is a holiday for the whole country and each family separately.
